Consultations are by appointment to reduce waiting times and help the practice run more efficiently. These are based on 15 minute slots in the mornings, afternoons and evenings. We also open the Cheltenham practice, in the Reddings, all day on Saturdays from 8:30 until 5 pm.
In the event of any emergency please telephone us to let us know you are on your way and we will endeavour to see your pet as soon as we possibly can.
For continuity please ask to book the appointment with the vet of your choice, so that you see the same person each time.
With the partners of several members of Arvonia Vets’ team living with serving and former members of the Armed Forces we really know what it’s like especially when you first move to a new area. Having to care for children and pets when one family member is deployed or away on exercise can be very difficult. Since opening we’ve offered 10% discount to serving members of UK Forces as well as those from other NATO countries. We offer 10% discounts on consultations, vaccines, neutering, microchips plus routine wormers and flea products. We are also very happy to offer home visits when home circumstances mean that journeys to the practice are difficult.
The Armed Forces discount is available at both surgeries – terms and conditions apply.
Emergency service 24/7
When the surgery is closed you have the peace of mind that if any emergency arises your pet can seen and checked out by a vet and treated if necessary. We use a dedicated, very well equipped emergency veterinary service that is within quick and easy driving distance. See the ‘In an emergency‘ section of the site for more details.
Lynda at Posh Paws Grooming is located at the Cheltenham Vet Centre in the Reddings. Lynda can be contacted on 07901 003760.
There are occasions when a visit is necessary or preferred for very large or elderly pets. For this reason we are happy to come to the house when ever a home visit is requested. Please call one of the surgeries and we will organise a convenient time to come. If possible, please would you give us as much notice as possible so that we can work around busy consultation times and operations.
We can also arrange collection and dropping off pets by a nurse in instances when a client is unable to get in by car or public transport. Please calls us and discuss your request with our receptionist.
In an emergency and on Saturdays there are times when blood tests need to be performed urgently. We have a modern laboratory in which we can run a large array of blood tests to help arrive at a diagnosis quickly.
On other occasions we may send samples away for testing. We use the services of a commercial lab that collects the samples directly from our surgeries and delivers them overnight so that samples can be processed the next day. For many tests we can have the results back in 18-36 hours!
Micro-chipping is the perfect way to identify your pet permanently. It is safe and dramatically increases the chance of finding your pet if they get lost, especially cats. Dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, tortoises and fish can all be chipped safely because the modern chips are approximately the size of a dry grain of rice.
Micro-chipping is necessary if you wish to apply for a Pet Passport and will be compulsory in all dogs after April 6th 2016.
Ophthalmology Specialist Clinics
Specialist, referral eye clinics are held at the Churchdown Vet Centre once a month by John Mould BA, BVSc, DVOphthal., FHEA, MRCVS, RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Ophthalmology, from the Eye Veterinary Clinic in Leominster. Referrals can be arranged for clients of Arvonia Vets, and also any other local practice, when their pet requires a second opinion or specialist eye examination for conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma or failing eye sight. In addition, consultations can also be arranged for BVA/KC eye examinations. Referrals for clinical cases need to be arranged through your own veterinary surgeon who will contact the Eye Veterinary Clinic directly with all the relevant clinical history.
Consultations are by appointment with Tony Nevin BSc (Hons) D.O. who has his clinic at the practice. You can find out more by clicking here.

Pet sitting service
Vicky Clough offers pet sitting at home. The service is called Cheltenham Pet Care.
Our Cheltenham Vet Centre, in the Reddings, is open all day on Saturday until 4 pm. Although the Churchdown Vet Centre is closed, it is only takes 5-10 minutes for clients who live in Churchdown to drive to the Reddings.
Arvonia Vets, at both sites, is closed on Sundays but urgent cases can be seen at Woods, in Quedgeley, which opens all day on a Sunday to deal with emergencies.
