Flea and Worming Treatments

We offer a variety of flea and worming treatments for both dogs and cats from all of our branches.

Our most commonly dispensed ones are:

  • Nexgard Combo - a spot-on treatment for cats which covers fleas, ticks, mites and worms.
  • Nexgard Spectra - a tasty, chewy tablet for dogs which covers fleas, ticks, mites and most worms
  • Droncit tablets - a tablet for dogs which covers tapeworm.

To dispense these we must have seen your pet within the last 12 months and, especially in the case of younger animals, have an up to date weight for them.

Long Term Medications

Some pets need medications for longer periods of time. In these cases we can supply up to 6 months medication at a time at the vet’s discretion. Please ensure that your pet’s weight is up to date with us so we can dispense the correct dosage.

Your pet will also need to be seen every 6 months for a checkover with the vet to ensure that there are no indications that the medication or dosage needs to be changed or additional medication required. Some medications may also require blood tests to be carried out regularly which can usually be done at the same time.

When placing a repeat prescription please allow 72 hours for your order to be processed and arranged as sometimes we need to order medication from our suppliers. If the medication has a delay or supplier issue we will endeavour to inform you as soon as possible and where necessary arrange a suitable alternative.

Please note: some medications are more tightly regulated than others and this means that we may not be able to dispense more than a month’s worth at a time or without seeing your pet for example with antibiotics or seizure medications. This is due to governing body regulations and is out of our control. If this applies to your pet’s medication the vet will inform you at the time of prescribing.

Written Prescriptions

We are able to provide written prescriptions on request at a cost of £24.50.

They can be for no more than 6 months supply at a time and in the case of more tightly regulated medications may involve extra steps and conditions so please discuss with a vet if this is something you are considering.

Written prescriptions are sent directly from ourselves to the pharmacy you have placed the order with so once your written prescription is completed you will need to provide us with the pharmacy details and your order number so we can send it.

Please wait for the prescription to be written and confirmed before placing the order because sometimes information needs to match or a different amount may be prescribed than you are expecting which can lead to complications.
